Rough week for big cats
Well, the infected zoo animals continue to pile up.
Funny enough, despite a limited number of people actually being in contact with the five big cats that got infected at Lincoln’s Children Zoo, they have no idea how the virus spread to them. Remember when health officials thought we could contract trace our way out of the pandemic? They can’t even properly contact trace in ideal situations.
The zoo staff was also surprised to learn that wearing masks does not work. Amazing.
Anyways, I have no idea if these cats were vaccinated. They contracted the virus last month and were expected to recover. Other zoos in similar situations claimed they would vaccinate the animals when they recovered. I would not be surprised if that is what happened here.
Either way, these were the first animals to get the virus at the zoo. One has to wonder if the vaccine-induced variants are responsible. Lots of questions here.
All 8 big cats at the Saint Louis Zoo were also infected with the virus despite all staff being fully vaccinated. But the kicker is that the animals were also vaccinated. Remember when vaccines were supposed to prevent infection?
