Finally, there is information from Canada on booster effectiveness, and we can add Ontario to the list of places where it is negative. As we can see from the above chart, VE for boosters is -26% in Ontario; admittedly, this seems better than than -50% VE from two doses of the vaccine. But it is important to note: we are lacking information on how many single dosed individuals are being added into the unvaccinated cohort (first 14 days) and how many with boosters are being added to the breakthrough cohort (first 14 days). If we were to account for those numbers, VE overall and booster VE would both look worse. Although, it is unclear if boosters would have lower VE than breakthroughs.
It's extremely frustrating, when are we going to wake up and start thinking from the point of patients and outcomes rather than "what would admitting vaccine failure mean for my official record and policy moving forward".
Are they still under the illusion that someone or anyone on earth is thinking about the future, we need to save sick people now! What are we going to do? We have allowed zero outpatient treatments, we have not stopped mass vaccinating. I cannot prove it yet but I am worried for a lot of vulnerable people and the LTC breakouts are the ones we have to worry most about. I have a feeling we are missing cases in nasopharyngeal swabs while the virus might have invaded and caused multi-organ failure. Only way to know will be excess mortality.
Thinking about this again, the booster VE cannot be higher than breakthrough. I would bet anything to look at the raw data and I think your suspicion is absolutely correct that the 14 day risk is being dumped on the double vaccinated to encourage them to boost/ So we are back to trying to trick the public again?
The unvaccinated now know for months that the "partial vaccinated" rate is N/A because that rate would be higher despite waiting an additional 14 days and dumping that risk in the wrong category.
However, the boosted folks have the luxury of not having a "partially boosted" category which makes all the risk slide straight into the double vaccinated "breakthroughs" panicking them and pushing them into the booster jab.
Question is when will they realize this happening to them and that their immunity is being mischaracterized and the immunity from recovery is gifted to the boosted (stolen immunity).
