Canadian Blackout

Less transparency, more masks. Nova Scotia now recommends TRIPLE masking. And yet that recommendation may be the least bizarre thing happening today.

Canadian health authorities are FREAKING out. They did not have a contingency plan for this scenario and it shows. As I noted, Manitoba made their data less transparent yesterday. Now Nova Scotia has stated they will stop providing daily case reports. Nova Scotia’s chief medical officer said today that

“Omicron is forcing us to do things differently, it’s a different variant that requires a different response. We no longer need to identify and have public health manage every single case of the variant, because for most people it will result in relatively mild illness."

Translation: The data does not conform with our belief system.

Furthermore, Nova Scotia is going into full throwback Thursday mode and recommending three masks, just like insane alarmist Theresa Tam did last winter.

Health authorities across the country are reacting in similar fashions; now, the vaccinated will only have to quarantine for half the time the unvaccinated do. Unless they are health care professionals — then they might not have to quarantine at all. British Columbia, who recently fired or suspended thousands of unvaccinated health care workers, is warning of impending staffing shortages and may also suspend quarantines for COVID positive workers. Apparently, being vaccinated and COVID positive leads to less of a chance to spread the virus than being unvaccinated and COVID negative.

Saskatchewan’s premier noted that to deal with increasing case numbers he will be emphasizing hospitalizations and told health authorities to start reporting hospitalizations due to COVID not with COVID. Are you kidding me? Why not do that from the very beginning?

“I’ve asked the Saskatchewan Health Authority to begin reporting how many hospitalizations are being admitted that are due to COVID and how many there are incidental cases, for example, patients who are admitted to hospital for some other reasons.”

Quebec, the ever-loving parent, will implement a curfew to reduce cases. Because limiting the time that people interact in public, thereby funneling everyone into businesses at the same time, worked the first time, right?

Newfoundland and Labrador with their stupidly high vaccination rates (93% of the entire population) is hitting record highs as is New Brunswick… and well, just about everywhere else. Yet health authorities around the country continue to push the vaccination. Aside from the fact that vaccination during a wave guarantees to accelerate the spread and sharpen the curve, it seems logical to consider that the vaccines do not work or, more likely, make things worse with omicron.

Meanwhile, I will not be doing an update today as provinces are killing the data. Quebec had about 83.6% of cases in the vaccinated with another record high. Alberta did not update their site today. Ontario did not report any cases by vaccination status today (see below). Manitoba already poisoned the data yesterday.

I have a strong feeling Canada is going to do a data blackout and start blaming the unvaccinated on the rise in cases. Who are the vaccinated going to believe, the government, or their lying eyes?
