We know. That is what matters. And we will never ever ever forget what they did. I will never trust ANY institution ever again - government, media, health, big pharma, big business, education and the list goes on. Never.

Oster is just using rational logical choice in how to act now that she finds herself on the wrong side, even according to herself:

Deny, obfuscate, fob off, and never ever admit guilt or any molecule of culpability.

Roughly the same principle as when being questioned by the police really:

Police: "Do you now what time it is?"

Person being questioned: "Yes."

Give the opposing force zero information to work with, and make them work for everything they're after.

While I can and do fault her and others like her, I also remember that she belongs to the majority and the normality of western human thought and culture the way it has developed from the 1960s onwards. The core tenet of any modern western ethic is after all the core capitalist one: "How do /I/ profit from this?", with how to remove risk, liability, and so on coming in as close seconds and with seeing each and every human as of being equal in dignity and worth, i.e. completely replaceable with any other human and thus making all humans virtually worthless.

The way she's acting may seem an amoral anomaly to you or me, but sadly the reverse is true: having convictions and principles and cleaving to them come Hell or high water is on its way out, and what is morally/ethically and behaviourally normal is strictly quantative, not qualitative as we like to think.

I can actually get behind the idea of amnesty. There were so many people that jumped on the bandwagon, especially in Canada, that the best we can do is to forgive them and move forward in the right direction. But the problem is that Emily Oster is still advocating for vaccine mandates in schools, so she is insincere and her piece is meaningless.

Well said!

That woman sums up the whole thing. She ran around like an hysterical chicken, terrorising herself and her family, screaming abuse at strangers, wearing old hankies over her face, undoubtedly wiping hand sanitizer everywhere, merrily walking masked into a restaurant and dining unmasked. All of it - such fun! She undoubtedly expected her utilities to work (lighting, heating, internet) and her groceries to be delivered. She undoubtedly walked round her supermarket with big scared eyes peering over her mask. She probably rushed to get as many jabs as possible and was thankful for them when she subsequently had several bouts of covid. She undoubtedly demonised everyone who questioned anything.

And now she wants us to feel sorry for her because she has realised she's on the wrong side of history and everything she supported was wrong and, had she not been a smug middle-class know-all she could have found out she was wrong back in March 2020. No amnesty, forgiveness, pity or compassion from me.

Amnesty for being one of Hitlers unwhitting accomplices? While others lost their livlihoods, bank accounts and ability to even get a job, all by refusing one jab? 2 years of struggle for 'the awake' to try and maintain a decent outlook, keep working, in the face of this societal schism, shitstorm. I might be willing to forgive the dead for their stupidity and blind obedience, but not the living.

Thank you for this concise and well said post. Very focused.

I had never thought to relate the reaction of others as a selfish gene response. It makes sense but I find it a bit unnerving to think that the basic response of survival can be manipulated like that. If I reflect long enough I see that pattern has been repeated throughout history. Yikes.

I am going to copy and send to others.
