Much of the problem has its origins in US meddling and support for vicious local compradors. Little wonder people flee, and little wonder they head for what looks like a relatively safe haven. Amongst them, of course, are thousands of criminals, using the wave of migrants as cover.

I had no idea that they were ferried off in less than 24 hours. These two-faced pompous “humans” are very hard to stomach. Thank you for the post.

I think DeSantis' move was good. As a 12 year resident of the island I will say the island was receptive and my wife's organization assisted. However the individuals need to be in court for status hearing, and that means on the mainland. It is an inconvenient place to be and when she is done working we will leave. The average income level is 30% below the state mean as many jobs are seasonal. The year round people service the seasonal businesses of the island. The cost of living is about the highest in the U.S. Median housing prices crossed the $1MM line in 2021, food and fuel are more expensive than the mainland. There is a large Brazilian population, legal and illegal, probably 20% of the 20,000 year round population. They are hard workers doing landscape, construction and other jobs. Construction slows during the summer as the homes are being used and goes on the rest of the year. In the summer there are over 120,000 people on the island and it is unpleasantly crowded and the August people are considered ruder than the July people. (More NY, NJ, DC, VA, MD people.) English as a second language students (Brazilians speaking Portuguese) outnumber native speakers in the school system. There was an influx of the laptop class and retirees people with Covid as the laptop class could use second homes to "isolate." There are many hypocritical leftists around, and as I read some of the local page Facebook comments, I could see how uninformed they are as to the border and the Biden administration catastrophic, cruel mismanagement of the border. Many, like Ken Burns, just wanted to call DeSantis the kidnapper and bad guy. One commenter pointed out that 180,000 people are coming over the southern border monthly. The left wingers refused to believe that. They get their news where that is left out and are seriously uncurious. The state government has as much diversity as the Soviet or Chinese Politburo.

My son in western Massachusetts with three children under 6 sold his house this month to get out of this state and move to Tennessee for some land and security. He is a tradesman and essential worker that worked through the plandemic while other cowered at home. He was frightened that he and his wife would be forced to be injected to be able to work and will not let his children be abused medically or mentally in this state. At some point I will be joining him. The hypocrisy runs deep. It is good that Abbott and DeSantis highlight it. The R's need to grow stones and make a difference. Thus far most are uniparty. Thank you, Ron Johnson and Rand Paul.

The majority are white liberals. Even Malcolm X stated that white liberals are the biggest threat to blacks. White liberals do the most damage to “minorities”.

What a classic example of NIMBY-ism. Go Ron, go!
