As the winter wave begins across Canada, we are seeing merely the continuation of a trend that has been occurring for awhile. It will be blamed on omicron, of course, despite this trend occurring in most countries that honestly1 reported their data around this time in the vaccination campaign2. In any case, the Canadian message remains resolute: ‘vaccination is the way out’. Canada continues to discriminate against the unvaccinated, so the government is either arbitrarily oppressing their own people or the vaccine has to work. It cannot one way and not the other. With that in mind, I present the Canadian COVID cases3 over the weekend, with a bit of context added.
Alberta
Over the weekend, there were:
1958 new cases
87 in the partially vaccinated cohort including 32 in the first 14 days
1441 in the fully vaccinated/booster cohort
430 in the unvaccinated cohort
6 deaths, 5 in the fully vaccinated4
That works out to 78% of cases in the vaccinated population. Currently, the province is 78.6% vaccinated.
Saskatchewan
Over the weekend, there were:
197 new cases
3 in the partially vaccinated cohort
115 in the fully vaccinated/booster cohort
79 in the unvaccinated cohort
That works out to 59.9% of cases in the vaccinated population. Currently, the province is 79.4% vaccinated. Note, this is the least reliable data of all the provinces. Saskatchewan only counts individuals as vaccinated if they are 3 weeks post first dose (all other provinces are 2 weeks). As this coincides with a period where first doses are being distributed in large numbers to the 5-11 age group, many of the unvaccinated cases likely fall into the vaccinated category. Furthermore, as the cases were quite low and the unvaccinated are forced to test for work in most places, the vaccinated cases are likely deflated in comparison.
Manitoba
On Monday5 there were:
200 new cases
21 cases in the partially vaccinated cohort
125 cases in the fully vaccinated cohort
54 cases in the unvaccinated cohort
That works out to 73% of cases in the vaccinated population. Currently, the province is 80.8% vaccinated. Thus far, 19 omicron cases have been identified since November.
Ontario
Over the weekend, there were:
10830 new cases
365 in the partially vaccinated cohort
8096 in the fully vaccinated/booster cohort
2369 in the unvaccinated cohort
That works out to 78.1% of cases in the vaccinated population. Currently, the province is 82.3% vaccinated.
Quebec
On Monday there were:
4571 new cases
220 in the partially vaccinated cohort
3093 in the fully vaccinated/booster cohort
1258 in the unvaccinated cohort
That works out to 72.5% of cases in the vaccinated population. Currently, the province is 84.1% vaccinated.
It will be interesting to see what occurs over the coming months as more of the partially vaccinated individuals are no longer counted as unvaccinated. These numbers are, of course, trending upwards and fast.
Need I remind you that Canada has made few efforts to be honest about their data. Even with the most transparent underlying data in Canada, Alberta has made a displayed it with the upmost contempt for honest presentation.
The Canadian vaccination programme began later than in most countries due to widespread logistics errors.
Data is poor in most places, BC and the Atlantic provinces have been omitted because cases are not reported by vaccination status.
Unfortunately, this is the only province I could find death data by vaccination status on due to the fact that I track it regularly.
Manitoba and Quebec, unfortunately, only had daily data and not data from the entire weekend.
Thanks for the update.
Most "Unvaccinated" = "People we injected and want you to think got Infected before we injected them. So we let them clear the virus and then accept them as recovered (stolen immunity) or if they die in the 14-21 days then dump them unceremoniously and dishonor them even further after death by claiming they didn't take the steps we told them to early enough (of getting vaccinated) when they tried and suffered due to our deceptions."
Why couldn't governement oppression and vaccines function co-exist? Oppressors (or bullies) doesn't need a reason after all, just an excuse.
I think, based on my own anecdotal observations, that what is driving infection among the vaccinated is two things, one of which is impossible to quantify and measure:
1) Efficiency of vaccine can of course be measured. We can make subsets, we can measure with quite fine granularity if we want to, and we can track change over time and so on. Since no governement is doing this, at least not in western nations, tracking and data doesn't really matter.
2) The psychological effect of vaccination: thanks to term "vaccine" being used, we assume this spikeprotein-injection works the same as the vaccine against smallpox, measles, et c. We are also, both younger and older, fully immersed in the idea that "Vaccinated = can't get sick" which isn't true of any vaccine. (And anyone who has studied probality a/o behavioural psychology knows that we as a species suck at judging odds, we're simply not wired that way.)
Building on 2 above, the vaccinated as I've observed both among strangers and acquaintancies and family, immediately after their first shot reverts to pre-Covidmania behaviour. They drop - completely - the very basic and always useful health measures they used the very same morning before they got the shot.
Surely, that must help drive infection among the vaccinated?
